Hello friends!
Summer in Vero Beach is, well…crickets…quiet. It’s just us family and you can get an appointment with your favorite hair stylist without waiting two weeks! Yea! On the other hand, summer is a slow time for most businesses around here so I took the opportunity to take Continuing Education classes in my favorite subject…facial massage! For most clients it’s the favorite part of the facial treatment and those that know me, know I wax poetic about the art of a good facial massage. Besides being rejuvenating for your skin, refreshing for your mind and relaxing for your body, it is one of the most important things you can do to help prevent the visible signs of aging.
Benefits of a facial massage
- Enhances skin elasticity, tightening and toning facial muscles
- Helps refine pores
- Reduces puffiness and dark circles around your eyes
- Helps relieve facial tension and discourages fine lines and wrinkles
- Improves circulation and revitalizes oxygen flow
- Aids in elimination of toxins, reducing stress and inflammation
- Improves sinus conditions and congestion
“Acupressure points are where the subconscious eavesdrops on the inner dialogue.” Deepak Chopra
Ayurveda, one the world’s oldest healing systems, would say that there is even more to massage because when the face is touched, a concentrated field of energy is being activated. These energy or acupressure points are hidden points on the surface of the skin that when awakened by gentle touch profoundly affect bodily tissues, state of mind, and the deeper consciousness.
Deepak Chopra says, “Acupressure points are where the subconscious eavesdrops on the inner dialogue.” Yes, I’ll wait while you read that again…it stopped me in my tracks too. These clusters of energy bridge the inner and outer world and the body, mind, and spirit.
Regular facial massage can be truly transformative on so many levels. Clients very often feel more relaxed as acupressure points are activated and serotonin floods the body. Stress leaves their face and they’re amazed at how much younger they look and feel after their treatments. While facials feel wonderful, it’s important to know that when energy is moved, redirected and balanced using the pressure points that are concentrated all over the face, neck, and shoulders; it really does makes a difference in your skin’s health and overall appearance.
Have you heard the one about the lymph drain?
…I’ll be here all week {wink & a smile}
Or how about Lymph Draining Massage? This is a technique that is meant to detoxify, drain stagnant fluids, regenerate tissues, filter out toxins and to maintain a healthy immune system. We don’t often think about how important the lymphatic system is, but lymph fluid collects in our face, neck, and shoulders so it’s important to move those toxins out to your bloodstream. By simply applying slight pressure over the lymph nodes you can resolve water retention and puffiness, especially around the eyes, and clears sinusitis congestion.
Facial Massage Therapy = Face Lift
Massaging, pinching, and lifting facial muscle techniques help build strong facial muscles to fight the pull of gravity that causes sagging in the face. When your facial contours are strengthened, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is reduced. Doing a facial massage routine yourself at home or getting a professional facial that includes a good facial massage will, over time, help you look like you’ve had a mini-facelift! Don’t forget to wash your face morning and night and use a treatment lotion and hydrate your skin with good skin care products from G.M. Collin, of course.
In all seriousness I really enjoyed my classes. I learned a lot from experts in the industry, and I can’t wait to share the routines with you!
